1. An absorbent article comprising: a) a fibrous absorbent structure; b) a coating essentially containing a fibrous absorbent structure and a precipitated active ingredient in an amount of up to about 5% by weight; c) an active ingredient selected from the group consisting of: i) monoesters of polyhydric aliphatic alcohols and a fatty acid containing from eight to eighteen carbon atoms, wherein said monoester has at least one hydroxyl group attached to the remainder of the aliphatic alcohol; ii) diesters heirs of polyhydric aliphatic alcohols and a fatty acid containing from eight to eighteen carbon atoms, wherein said diester has at least one hydroxyl group attached to the remainder of the aliphatic alcohol; and iii) mixtures of these monoesters and diesters; where the fibrous absorbent structure: A) contains the active ingredient in an amount up to about 0.05 wt.%; B) contains less than 0.3% of ester-soluble substances in accordance with the test for the content of ester-soluble substances; C) contains less than 0.7% of water-soluble substances in accordance with the test for the content of water-soluble substances; and D) passes the foam test. 2. An absorbent article according to claim 1, wherein the fibrous absorbent structure includes branched fibers. The absorbent article of claim 2, wherein the branched fibers are coated with the active ingredient. An absorbent article according to claim 3, wherein the fibrous absorbent structure contains less than about 75 wt.% Of branched fibers coated with the active ingredient.
