A waistband structure for an absorbent article is disclosed. The waistband structure extends across at least one of the front and back waist regions and is comprised of a filler material and a waistband material located on top of the filler material. The waistband structure may be bonded to at least one of the front and back waist regions by a bonding pattern. The bonding pattern is longitudinally displaced and may have at least one peak and one valley across each waist region. Typically, the distance between the peak and the valley in the bonding pattern is 5 to 100 mm.
