A pants-type absorbent article (1) which includes: an absorbent body (10) that is provided with an absorbent core (11) arranged along the vertical direction and that is folded at a lower end in the vertical direction to form a front side and a rear side； and a crotch member (23) which is layered at a crotch portion to be positioned over the crotch of a wearer when worn so as to be more to the non-skin side than the absorbent core (11) and which has a crotch extensible region (23s) that stretches and contracts along the vertical direction. The crotch portion of the absorbent core (11) is provided with a crotch low basis weight region (36) which has an average basis weight that is lower than the surrounding regions.
