PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a change in color tone accompanying wavelength shift of a semiconductor light source and the like.SOLUTION: An endoscope has B-LED 20b, G-LED 20c, and R-LED 20d. The R-LED 20d has a peak wavelength within a transmission wavelength range of an R filter of a color imaging device, and emits red light whose peak wavelength shifts to a long-wavelength side the larger light emission intensity becomes. A light source control part 21 sets a drive amount to be added to the B-LED 20b, G-LED 20c, and R-LED 20d on the basis of a target quantity of light.
