PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair type massage machine that makes various automatic backrest raising actions of various kinds including making no such action at all, making such an action to some necessary extent, tilting if necessary, etc.SOLUTION: The chair type massage machine includes a seat 10, a reclining backrest 20, an automatic backrest raise mechanism to automatically raise the backrest after the massage finishes, a control means to control the automatic backrest raise mechanism, and a backrest 20 or patient conditions data detection means to detect these conditions data. The control means has the memory of a plurality of automatic backrest rise positions A. After the massage finishes, the conditions data detection means detects the conditions data and decides whether the backrest 20 should be automatically raised, based on the contents of the conditions data detected.
