PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen gas generator that is readily handled, and to provide a hydrogen gas generation method.SOLUTION: The hydrogen gas generator 12 includes: a container part 122 provided with a depressed part 126 on an outer side of the bottom face thereof and formed with a hole 128 in the depressed part 126 and a lid 124 attached to the container part 122.
