PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygenator which helps avoid bubbles in the blood from being discharged through a blood outlet port.
SOLUTION: The oxygenator 10 includes a housing 2A, a hollow fiber membrane bundle 3A in the housing 2A and formed by a multiplicity of hollow fiber membranes serving for gas exchange, gas-inlet and gas-outlet ports provided on the upstream side and downstream side of gas passages, respectively, with the lumen of each hollow fiber membrane as the gas passage, a blood-inlet and blood-outlet ports provided on the upstream side and downstream side of a blood passage, respectively, with the outer side of each hollow fiber membrane as the blood passage, and a filter member 41A provided on the blood outlet port side of the hollow fiber membrane bundle 3A and serves to catch bubbles in blood. The blood outlet port is provided with a blood outlet port 28 projecting from a housing 2A, and a passage enlargement part 281 having an increased cross-sectional area of the passage is provided in the vicinity of the end on the side of the housing 2A of the blood outlet port 28. The blood passing through the filter member 41A reaches the blood outlet port 28 by being decelerated in the passage enlargement part 281.
