A treatment method to reduce a patient's pain caused by a medical conditionand/ormedical procedure to reduce or eliminate the taking of addictive painmedication isdisclosed. The treatment has the step of administering acoustic shock wavesdirected toan area near a source of the pain or to a reflexology zone to treat themedical condition orprior to the medical procedure or during the medical procedure or after themedicalprocedure or any combination thereof. The treatment further has the steps ofactivatingacoustic shock waves of an acoustic shock wave generator to emit acousticshock wavesand subjecting the area near the source of the pain or the reflexology zone toacousticshock waves stimulating the area near the source of the pain or an area in thereflexologyzone to have a modulated response wherein the modulated response is one ormore ofreducing patient anxiety or suppressing pain or activating an anestheticeffect over aperiod of time.
