The invention relates to a method and an electronic system for the automatic control of the irrigation process. According to the invention, the method consists in conducting periodical measurements of soil moisture and starting the irrigation thereof, according to a scheduled irrigation cycle, only in case of a soil moisture lower than a preset reference level, displaying messages on the current soil moisture and the actuation of the electronic system regarding the performance or non-performance of the scheduled irrigation. The system employed for carrying out the method consists of an electronic subassembly consisting of a printed circuit board () on which some user-communication modules () are placed and interconnected, having some sensors () for determining the soil moisture and for actuating some effectors (), respectively, said modules () being coordinated by a microprocessor (), the electronic subassembly being placed in a casing () having a control panel () provided with an interface comprising some devices () for the input of the operating parameters and for the display of messages and information, respectively, whereto some effectors () such as some electrically operated valves, some soil moisture determining sensors (), some voltage sources () for the supply of the electronic subassembly and of the effectors (), respectively, are connected.Invenţia se referă la o metodă şi un sistem electronic pentru controlul executării, în regim automat, a procesului de irigare.
