PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give l-menthol a cold sensation (cooling sensation) to the skin and oral cavity, and is often used for toothpaste, mouthwash, gum, soft drink, patch, cosmetics and the like. However, when the amount of 1-menthol used is large, there is a problem of causing an unfavorable bitterness. SOLUTION: As an inhibitor of unfavorable bitterness caused by 1-menthol, 2-isopropyl-N, 2,3-trimethylbutyramide or 3-menthoxypropane-1,2-diol is used to suppress the bitterness of 1-menthol.
