Disclosed are MUC1 peptides of at least 6 consecutive MUC1 residues containing the sequence CQC. The residues are useful for the treatment and inhibition of cancer via the peptides inhibiting MUCl oligomerization, thereby preventing tumor cell growth, inducing tumor cell apoptosis and necrosis of tumor tissue in vivo.
