A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus and control method for comparing a sound generated from the bore of the MRI apparatus to a pulse sequence sound to adjust the output level of a sound output unit located in an operating room and thus permit a patient to be heard by an operator when an emergency situation or other information is expressed by the patient.
