A method and system for fumigating materials is disclosed. The method includes confining a material to be fumigated within a confined volume and forming a gas mixture within the confined volume that includes at least the fumigant and the ambient gas originally present in the confined volume. The partial pressure of is increased relative to the ambient gas within the confined volume.
