PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a low-odor sugar alcohol-modified silicone which is substantially odorless and in which development of odor over time is restricted, to provide external preparations or cosmetics using the low-odor sugar alcohol-modified silicone, and to provide a method for accurately and easily quantifying a carbonyl compound that is a causative substance of odor of a sugar alcohol-modified silicone.SOLUTION: The present invention provides: the production method of a sugar-alcohol modified silicone including a step of treating a sugar alcohol-modified silicone using an acidic substance the external preparation and the cosmetic containing the sugar alcohol-modified silicone and a method for measuring a carbonyl value of a sugar alcohol-modified silicone containing a carbonyl compound by using an absorbance of a reaction solution obtained by reacting the sugar alcohol-modified silicone with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine in a reaction medium containing a lower monovalent alcohol and water.COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT【課題】本発明は、実質的に無臭であり、また、経時での臭気発生が抑制された、低臭性糖アルコール変性シリコーンの製造方法を提供すること;そのような低臭性糖アルコール変性シリコーンを利用した外用剤又は化粧料を提供すること;並びに、糖アルコール変性シリコーンが帯びる臭気の原因物質であるカルボニル化合物を正確に、また、簡便に定量する方法を提供すること、を目的とする。【解決手段】上記課題は、糖アルコール変性シリコーンを酸性物質で処理する工程を含む、糖アルコール変性シリコーンの製造方法、及び当該糖アルコール変性シリコーンを含有する外用剤又は化粧料;並びに、カルボニル化合物を含む糖アルコール変性シリコーン及び2,4-ジニトロフェニルヒドラジンを一価低級アルコール及び水を含む反応媒体中で反応させて得られる反応溶液の吸光度から当該糖アルコール変性シリコーンのカルボニル価を測定する方法により解決される。【選択図】なし
