PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cardiomyocyte medium with dialyzed serum.SOLUTION: Methods and compositions for maintaining cardiomyocytes are provided. For example, in a certain aspects, for maintain long term purity of cardiomyocytes, a method for culturing cardiomyocytes in a medium substantially free of serum or containing a dialyzed serum is provided. According to another aspect, a method for modulating cardiomyocytes is provided. Aspects of the invention overcome major technical deficiency, particularly in terms of homogeneity, by providing a method for maintaining the purity of cardiomyocyte populations.
