PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headrest and medical examination table, in which a sliding mechanism for making a head support part slide can be made to be compact.SOLUTION: A headrest 1 comprises: a head holding part 10 for holding a head； a support member 30 for supporting the head holding part 10 on a back plate 2 constituting a medical examination table 100； a coupling member 20 coupled with the head holding part 10 and slidably attached to the support member 30； and a fixation release part 40 and engaging recess part 331 that fix the coupling member 20 to the support member 30. The support member 30 includes a guide part 33 for guiding the sliding coupling member 20； and the coupling member 20 includes a bearing 50 to be guided in contact with the guide part 33. The engaging recess part 331 is arranged at a groove bottom 33b not in contact with the bearing 50, of a groove side face 33a and groove bottom 33b constituting the guide part 33.
