Apparatus and method for detecting connectivity in a channel in an endoscope undergoing reprocessing using an automatic reprocessor, the apparatus including a source of pressurized fluid which may be a gas alone or gas and liquid and a back pressure detector connected to the channel or channels of interest in the endoscope, the method including providing a source of pressurized fluid, directing the pressurized fluid to a channel in an endoscope, monitoring the time for the back pressure in the pressurized fluid to decay to a predetermined level and determining whether the channel is connected and open or disconnected by comparing the decay time of the actual back pressure to one or more predetermined values corresponding to the specific channel or channels and model of endoscope undergoing reprocessing.Linvention concerne un appareil et un procédé de détection de connectivité dans un canal dun endoscope soumis à un retraitement à laide dun dispositif de retraitement automatique, lappareil comprenant une source de fluide sous pression qui peut être un gaz seul ou un gaz et un liquide, ainsi quun détecteur de contre-pression raccordé au canal ou aux canaux à étudier de lendoscope, le procédé consistant à utiliser une source de fluide sous pression, à diriger le fluide sous pression vers un canal dun endoscope, à surveiller le temps que la contre-pression du fluide sous pression met pour chuter à un niveau prédéterminé et à déterminer si le canal est raccordé et ouvert ou non raccordé par comparaison du temps de chute de la contre-pression à une ou plusieurs valeurs prédéterminées correspondant au canal ou canaux spécifiques et au modèle dendoscope soumis à un retraitement.
