A system and method for automating the selection of end-diastolic ultrasound frames (EUFs] and regions of interest (ROIs] of the common carotid artery (CCA] to measure the carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT] is provided. The EUFs are selected based on the QRS complex of the ECG signal associated with an ultrasound video, and the ROI is detected based on image intensity and curvature of the carotid artery bulb. The CIMT and a vascular age of a patient is calculated and displayed on a report.La présente invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant dautomatiser la sélection de vues ultrasonores en fin de diastole (EUF) et de régions dintérêt (ROI) de lartère carotide commune (CCA) pour mesurer lépaisseur intima-média de la carotide (EIMC). Les EUF sont sélectionnées en se basant sur le complexe QRS du signal de lélectrocardiogramme associé à une vidéo ultrasonore, et la ROI est détectée en se basant sur lintensité dimage et la courbure du bulbe de lartère carotide. LEIMC et un âge vasculaire dun patient sont calculés et affichés sur un rapport.
