<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new whitening agent and an agent for the prevention and/or treatment of pigmentary disorder. <；P>；SOLUTION: The invention is based on the first finding that cetraxate or its salt used as an agent for the treatment of gastritis and ulcer is useful also as a preventing and/or treating agent for pigmentary disorders such as specks, freckles, sunburn, dark skin caused by inflammation or stimulation of the skin, and diseases inducing pigmentation such as melanosis of the skin caused by drugs such as steroids.
