PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hypochlorous acid-containing sterilizing water which makes hypochlorous acid having a high sterilizing property exist sufficiently therein without generating poisonous chlorine gas and a method for producing the sterilizing water.
SOLUTION: In the hypochlorous acid-containing sterilizing water which contains sodium hypochlorite and a pH adjusting agent and whose pH is adjusted to 5-6 by the pH adjusting agent, the pH adjusting agent consists of two buffer components, acetic acid and sodium acetate, exhibiting a buffer action, and the contents of sodium hypochlorite, acetic acid, and sodium acetate are set to 76-84 ppm, 157-173 ppm and 9.5-10.5 ppm, respectively.
