PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work machine capable of easily avoiding damage to a rear panel resultant from a lifted work device coming into contact with the rear panel.SOLUTION: A work machine includes: a machine body 2； a work device 3 connected to a rear part of the machine body 2, which can be lifted and lowered； a cabin 6 provided to the machine body 2； a first opening formed in the rear part of the cabin 6； a rear panel 56 provided in the rear part of the cabin 6, which covers the first opening； a first support member for supporting the rear panel 56 openably/closably with respect to the cabin 6； a contact detection unit provided to the rear panel 56 for detecting contact between the rear panel 56 and the work device 3； an operation device 22 for operating lifting and lowering of the work device 3； and a control device capable of controlling the lifting and lowering of the work device 3 on the basis of operation by the operation device 22.
