An endoscopic retractor comprises a shaft (12) having a distal end (14), a proximal end (16) and a central axis (22) and at least two retractor fingers (24, 26) arranged at the distal end (14) of the shaft (12), whereby at least one of the retractor fingers (24, 26) is movable between a closed position in which the at least one movable retractor finger (26) is substantially parallel to the central axis (22) of the shaft (12) and an open position in which the at least one movable retractor finger (26) is at an angle to the central axis (22) of the shaft (12). The endoscopic retractor further comprises at least one channel (28) for inserting an endoscopic instrument running along the central axis (22) of the shaft (12) and connecting an opening (30) in the vicinity of the proximal end (16) of the shaft (12) with an opening (32) in the vicinity of the distal end (14) of the shaft (12). The opening (32) in the vicinity of the distal end (14) is hereby realized as a cutaway in a sidewall of the shaft (12) and the at least two retractor fingers are mounted distally of the opening (32) in the vicinity of the distal end (14) of the shaft (12) at the distal end (14) of the shaft (12).
