An apparatus includes a hollow cylinder opened atleast at one end adapted to receive food waste, the hollow cylinder further comprises holes, wherein the holes enable worms to access food waste inside the hollow cylinder from a plant growing medium placed in the apparatus, a porous material running through the plant growing medium about to the height of the hollow cylinder, a waste water tray adapted to receive a water remain received after watering the plant, and is in structural cooperation with the porous material enabling it to transport waste water and the food waste to the plant growing medium through capillary action, a plant receiving structure adapted to receive the plant and the growing medium, the plant receiving structure is in structural cooperation with the hollow cylinder such that the plant growing medium present in the plant receiving structure is adapted to be placed circumferentially around the hollow cylinder, so as to allow worms present in the plant growing medium to travel through the holes of the hollow cylinder into the hollow cylinder or out of the hollow cylinder into the plant growing medium.
