The present invention relates to a composition comprising Hovenia dulcis extract as an active ingredient for the treatment or prevention of intestinal disorders. Particularly, in a constipation-inducing experimental model, and in an intestinal motility test model, Hovenia dulcis, an active ingredient of the present invention, induced the activation of intestinal function and alleviated constipation by activating the secretion of mucus in the intestine of an animal model by using charcoal. Further, since Hovenia dulcis is derived from a natural substance, side effects or toxic problems are less likely to occur.
