There is disclosed a fish trap (10) including a frame (13) arranged to support a trapping material (14) so as to define a fish-receiving receptacle (16). The trap (10) includes an aperture (18) through the trapping material (14) arranged to allow passage of fish into the receptacle (16). In some examples, the trap (10) includes a bait retaining portion (20) arranged to retain bait proximate to the aperture (18) so as to attract fish to swim through the aperture (18) into the receptacle (16). In other examples, the disclosed fish trap (10) may be adapted to be moveable between an expanded condition and a collapsed condition. Method of operating or using the fish trap are also disclosed.
