The present invention relates to a method for inhibiting the growth or proliferation of cancer cells by contacting the cancer cells with an extracellular matrix (ECM) composition. The present invention also provides a method for delivering a chemotherapeutic agent to a cancer cell by contacting the cancer cell with an extracellular matrix composition comprising a chemotherapeutic agent.
