PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new apparatuses and methods in femur head surface replacement during hip surgery for more quickly and accurately placing a guide pin thereby accurately placing a drill guide.SOLUTION: A mold including an aperture for guiding a drill is prepared at a desired location and angle. During surgery, the mold is quickly and accurately positioned on the exposed femur head. Then, a drill bit can be inserted through the aperture, and an opening for a pin can be drilled into the femur head. The mold has a unique contoured surface adapted to fit to the femur in a single unique position such that the opening is made in a unique desired position.
