PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high sugar content jelly food product and a production method thereof, which are suitable for mass production because gelation with high speed is achieved even when the sugar content is high, viscosity of the gummy jelly solution is low, and tailing of the product does not take place, and the production is easily conducted by using a starch mold, and to provide a gelling agent for producing the high sugar content jelly food product.SOLUTION: A high sugar content jelly food product includes agar, which brings about viscosity at 85°C of 4-20 mPa s when dissolved to a concentration of 1.5% in water by boiling and heating, and HM pectin with an esterification degree of 60-75, and is adjusted to have a sugar content of 78-85.
