The present invention concerns a pharmaceutically acceptable composition containing a cysteine selected from L-cysteine, D-cysteine and N-acetylcysteine, as an active agent, for use in treating atrophic gastritis, when administered in a dose of 300 to 1500 mg per day of said cysteine during a time period of at least 2 months, or for 3 months, or even 4 months. The invention also concerns a method for treating subjects suffering from atrophic gastritis, including administering to said subjects a composition according to the invention, including a cysteine as an active agent, using said dosage regimen.La présente invention concerne une composition pharmaceutiquement acceptable contenant une cystéine sélectionnée parmi la L-cystéine, la D-cystéine et la N-acétylcystéine, en tant que principe actif, destinée à être utilisée dans le traitement de la gastrite atrophique, ladite cystéine étant administrée en une dose située dans la plage allant de 300 à 1 500 mg par jour pendant une période de temps d'au moins 2 mois, ou pendant 3 mois, ou même 4 mois. L'invention concerne également une méthode de traitement de sujets souffrant de gastrite atrophique, ladite méthode consistant à administrer auxdits sujets une composition selon l'invention, comprenant une cystéine en tant que principe actif, à l'aide dudit régime posologique.
