PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately acquire a stroboscope image even in an electronic endoscope using a rolling shutter.SOLUTION: A light guide 21 of an electronic scope 11 is connected to a light source part 23 of a strobe light-emitting device 14. On the basis of sound waveforms collected by a microphone 28, the light source part 23 emits strobe light to generate strobe-light emission pulses corresponding to strobe-light emission periods. An image pickup device 15 is driven, with it synchronized with the strobe-light emission pulses to start readout of pixel signals. While reading the pixel signals from the image pickup device 15, an electronic endoscope system outputs a strobe-light emission prohibition pulse to prohibit the light source part 23 to emit the strobe light.
