Present invention is developed around the concept of a “Basal Body Clock”. The percent distribution of the basal insulin requirement during a 24 hr period is conceptualized in the form of a basal body clock. This enables the therapist to set up multiple basal rates almost on the first visit while initiating the pump therapy. The invention defines the timings at which the basal rate needs changing and quantified the percent of insulin required for each period. This has highly simplified the prescriptions. The patients are able to grasp the concept very rapidly, because of the usual familiarity with a clock system.
