The present invention relates to a pesticide composition in the form of a water absorbent granular material and to the use of such compositions for combating arthropod pests, in particular soil-living arthropod pests, and nematodes, with particular preference given to soil-living insect pests. The pesticide composition according to the invention as a water absorbent granular material, which contains: i) from 0.001 to 10% by weight of at least one pesticide compound, in particular a pesticide compound that is active against said soil-living arthropod pest, ii) from 80 to 99.999% by weight of at least one granular super absorbent polymer, and iii) water, wherein the % by weight are based on the total weight of the composition, except for water and wherein the components i) and ii) make up at least 90% by weight of the composition except for water, and wherein the water absorbent granular material is obtainable by a process which comprises the treatment of superabsorbent polymer granules with a liquid aqueous composition containing the at least one pesticide compound.본 발명은 수분 흡수성 과립상 물질 형태의 살충제 조성물, 및 상기 조성물을 절지동물 해충, 구체적으로 토양 서식 절지동물 해충, 및 선충류, 바람직하게는 토양 서식 곤충 해충을 퇴치하는데 사용하는 용도에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 의한 수분 흡수성 과립상 물질 형태의 살충제 조성물은, (i) 1종 이상의 유기 살충제 화합물, 특히 상기 토양 서식 절지동물 해충에 대하여 활성인 살충제 화합물 0.001 내지 10 중량%； (ii) 1종 이상의 과립상 초흡수성 중합체 80 내지 99.999 중량%； 및 (iii) 물을 함유하고, 이때 상기 중량%는 물을 제외한 조성물의 총 중량을 기준으로 한 것이며, 상기 성분 (i)과 (ii)는 물을 제외한 상기 조성물의 90 중량% 이상을 구성하고, 상기 수분 흡수성 과립상 물질은 초흡수성 중합체 과립들을 상기 1종 이상의 살충제 화합물을 함유하는 액상 수성 조성물로 처리하는 것을 포함하는 방법에 의해 얻을 수 있다.
