An implantable medical lead, comprising an inner insulation layer at least one filar of the implantable medical lead； a shield about the inner insulation layer, an outer insulation layer surrounding the shield and the inner insulation layer, characterized by the shield being formed as a tubular shape about the inner insulation in which is formed a linear axial cut that breaks mechanical continuity of the shield circumferentially about the inner insulation layer while the shield maintains shielding continuity circumferentially about the inner insulation layer.
