592621 Disclosed is a detecting arrangement for a teat cleaning device (16) including a teat cleaning cup (17) which contains the teats of milking animals (15) during the cleaning thereof. A measuring device (19) automatically measures a teat related parameter in or adjacent to the teat cleaning cup (17) from the teat at completion of a teat cleaning process. A processing device (18) is connected to the measuring device (17) and automatically compares the measured teat related parameter with a reference value. The processing device (18) then automatically determines whether the teat of the milking animal (15) has been contained in the teat cleaning cup (17) manifold during the teat cleaning process based on the comparison.
