Provided herein are devices used to reconstruct the natural lens capsule after cataract surgery. The device utilizes a substantially ring-shaped rigid and flexible component to contact the posterior and anterior surfaces of the capsular bag after cataract surgery to reconstruct the shape of the capsule. Further provided is a device for tensioning the lens capsule after cataract surgery. The elastic ring-shaped body is a clip-like configuration and is configured to secure the limbus of the capsulotomy. Alternatively, the elastic ring-like body is formed from a lower component that relies on the body and a rigid ring-shaped body extending from the lower component as well as the stiffness of the capsular reconstruction device as well as the flexible component.
