The present invention relates to a method for preparing a bait composition, intended for consumption by an animal, method according to which a monoblock matrix consisting of a paste is formed by mixing an amount of solid constituents containing flour of vegetable origin with a quantity of liquid constituents comprising water and fatty matter so that said paste thus obtained can be suitable for shaping by injection-molding in order to obtain of said matrix, characterized in that said paste is injected to form a one-piece matrix of geometrically variable shape constituted by a plurality of block units also of geometrically variable shape, interconnected by means of '' a connecting means, from the same material as that of the block units, having a thickness or a width less than the thickness or the width of a unit block taken from the side on which said means is linked, said means being intended to be mechanically torn off by the mouth of the animal thus allowing the individualization of the block units.
