Easily transportable delayed germination device comprising a tray (10) containing a mixture composed of a delaying fertilizer, a dry hydrophilic seed substrate, and a cover (12) hermetically sealing the tray (19) so that the device can be transported without scattering of its contents. The cover (12) can be easily removed from the tray (10) and the combined effect of added water and fertilizer transforms the substrate into a nutritive soil for the germination of seeds. The device of the invention can be in the form of a postcard and includes an announcement.
