PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an algicide effectively removing seaweeds attached to a fishing net without putrefying the seaweeds.SOLUTION: The algicide is obtained by adding a tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium salt to water, wherein the proportion of the added tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium salt based on the water is 3,000-10,000 mg/L.
