PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope which can be easily focused on the surface of a subject and has a small-diameter distal end portion.SOLUTION: A recess portion 26 and a distal end surface 27 are formed on a distal end portion 16a provided in the electronic endoscope. The distal end portion 16a includes a side-viewing observation optical system 47 and a front-viewing observation optical system 48. The side-viewing observation optical system 47 has a side-viewing observation lens 28, a prism 41, and a zoom lens 42. Light incident from the side-viewing observation lens 28 is reflected on the half-mirror 41a of the prism 41. The zoom lens 42 and a CCD 44 are positioned on the emitting surface 41b of the prism 41. In the side-viewing observation optical system 47, a focal distance is switched between normal observation and magnifying observation and vice versa. A predetermined distance L is set between the position of the surface of the side-viewing observation lens 28 and the position on an extension line of the outer circumferential surface 25 in a side-viewing direction S. In the magnifying observation using the side-viewing observation optical system 47, the distance L is set so that the best focal position BP can match the extension line of the outer circumferential surface 25.COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT【課題】被検体の表面に容易にピントを合わせることが可能であり、且つ先端部の小径化を図ることができる。【解決手段】電子内視鏡に設けられた先端部16aには、凹み部26と、先端面27とが形成されている。先端部16aは、側視観察光学系47及び直視観察光学系48を備える。側視観察光学系47は、側視観察レンズ28、プリズム41、ズームレンズ42からなる。側視観察レンズ28からの入射光はプリズム41のハーフミラー41aで反射する。ズームレンズ42及びCCD44は、プリズム41の出射面41b側に位置する。側視観察光学系47は、通常観察及び拡大観察の間で焦点距離が切り換えられる。側視方向Sにおける側視観察レンズ28の表面の位置と、外周面25の延長線上の位置との間に所定距離Lを有する。側視観察光学系47による拡大観察時、ベストピント位置BPが、外周面25の延長線上に一致するように距離Lが設定されている。【選択図】図3
