The present invention proposes an apparatus for waste gas scrubbing, more particularly in a urea plant, wherein the apparatus is designed such that, along a transport direction in the channel, a waste gas passes through - a first region (11) to remove dust particles, more particularly urea dust particles, from the waste gas and - a second region (12) to remove chemical compounds from the waste gas that can be integrated in an aqueous liquid phase through an acid-base reaction, more particularly of ammonia; wherein a cross-sectional area of the channel running perpendicular to the transport direction in the second region (12) is larger than a cross-sectional area running perpendicular to the transport direction in the first region (11), and wherein the apparatus (1) is designed such that, in the assembled state of the apparatus (1), the channel (5) runs horizontally, at least in sections, and/or the transport direction (T) of the waste gas runs horizontally through the channel (5).
