A scalp cooling device (11) is provided with: a cooling cap (13 ) to be fit to a head； a coolant passage that is formed inside the cooling cap (13) and that extends between a first coolant port and a second coolant port； a cooler (15) for cooling a coolant； a coolant flow direction reversing mechanism (21) for selectively supplying the cooler (15)-cooled coolant to one of the first and second coolant ports and discharging from the other of the first and second coolant ports the coolant that has passed through the coolant passage； and a controller (23) configured to control how the coolant flow direction switching mechanism (21) works.
