Provided herein are systems and methods for programming cultivation pods. One embodiment of the cultivation pod includes a plurality of carts for cultivating plants, a plurality of pod environment effectors, and a pod computing device that causes the cultivation pod to receive a recipe program when executed by a processor. The recipe program may define a cultivation recipe for the cultivation pod and operate at least a portion of the plurality of pod environmental effectors to facilitate cultivation of the plurality of individual plants. The recipe program can be generated via a scripting language that includes a plurality of commands for controlling the cultivation pod. In some embodiments, the plurality of commands are specific to the cultivation pod.
