The present invention provides a composition for a shell, which is suitable for producing a plant-derived, practical capsule shell sheet having both sufficient strength and elongation as a capsule shell, superior adhesiveness and transparency, and a low burden on a drying step, a capsule shell sheet obtained using the composition for a shell, and further a capsule preparation. By containing vegetable polysaccharides and polyglutamic acid, the object composition for capsule shell, a capsule shell sheet and a capsule preparation can be obtained.
