PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for introduction into a body via a substantially straight conduit to form a predefined curved configuration.SOLUTION: The device includes an elongated element 10 composed of a plurality of segments 12. The elongated element forms interconnection between adjacent segments either by a hinge 14 or flexibility. The elongated element has a cross-sectional shape. The device further includes a conduit having a shape closely engaging with the cross-sectional shape of the elongated element. Regarding either the interconnection by a plurality of segments and hinge, or the one by flexibility, when the elongated element is confined within the conduit, an interconnection part transfer a compressive force from one segment to the next one, so that the elongated element can be pushed to advance it through the conduit.
