The present invention relates to a medium composition for increasing the amount of selenium in a plant comprising 70% basalt and 30% pearlite in a weight ratio, and a method for increasing the amount of selenium in the plant by growing the plant in the medium. As can be seen through the present invention, when the plant was cultivated through the medium of the present invention, there was an effect that the amount of selenium and the antioxidant activity in the plant were increased compared to other mediums.본 발명은 중량비로 현무암 70%와 펄라이트 30%를 포함하는 식물에서 셀레늄 양을 증대하기 위한 배지 조성물 및 상기 배지에서 식물을 재배하여 해당 식물에서 셀레늄의 양을 증대시키는 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명을 통하여 알 수 있는 바와 같이, 본 발명의 배지를 통하여 식물을 재배하는 경우에 해당 식물에서 셀레늄의 양과 항산화 활성이 다른 배지에 비하여 증대되는 효과가 있었다.
