In order to prevent products to be chilled or frozen, in particular food products, from sticking to a belt when being processed with such belt, an apparatus (10 110 210) as well as a method for chilling or freezing such product (16) are proposed, comprising:- a freezer (18 118 218) having a freezing chamber (21 121 221) therein in which a cryogenic substance is provided, and an inlet (17 117 217) and an outlet (19 119 219) in communication with the freezing chamber (21 121 221) and- a plastic film belt (12) constructed and arranged to transport the product (16) from the inlet (17 117 217) through the freezing chamber (21 121 221) for exposure to the cryogenic substance to the outlet (19 119 219) for removal of the product (16) for further processing.
