The present invention relates to novel uses of C-19 steroid compounds, inparticular C-19 steroids having anandrosten-17- (OR4)-3-one structure for prophylactic and/or therapeutic uses,wherein R4 is hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substitutedalkyl, aryl, acyl or any group leading to hydroxyl upon biologicalmetabolization or chemical deprotection. The present inventionparticularly relates to selected C-19 steroids displaying properties of highbinding affinity to androgen receptor to blockdihydotestosterone from binding, while at the same time providing anaboliceffects, which is useful for certain applications The therapeuticapplications particularly include concepts based on influencing or controllingcollagen and related therapeutic aspects, as well asconcepts making use of certain disclosed effects the mentioned C-19 steroidcompounds based on blocking the androgen receptor(AR) against binding of the natural androgen, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), whileprimarily circumventing a directaromatase-inhibiting effect, The present invention also describes apharmaceutical composition comprising a combination of such a compound anddimethyl isosorbide.
