PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide spherical metal oxide manufactured via W/O emulsion, the spherical metal oxide being useful as an additive for cosmetics, resins and the like because it has not adsorbed a surfactant which had been used for forming the W/O emulsion.SOLUTION: The present invention is characterized in that: after forming W/O emulsion, the W phase is gelatinized, then demulsified by addition of hydrophilic solvent and water, and heated to about 50-80°C in condition of the O phase and W phase being separated into 2 phases, so that a surfactant adsorbed in the gel is extracted to the O phase and then the gelatinized bodies are collected from the W phase.
