"The invention relates to a process for biological enrichment of cattle feed for better digestibility" The complex lignocellulosic materials of various crop residues and by-products of many seeds limit the feed value due to low protein and poor digestibility. A number of methods have been tried to improve the digestibility but proven to be expensive apart from discharging toxic effluents. Pure cultures of fungi have been employed to improve the digestibility. This also has been found to be expensive apart from a significant loss of organic matter. The present method describes a cheaper method of processing lignocellulosic materials at room temperature under anaerobic conditions employing a microbial consortium. The fermented product at the end of 7 days has higher protein content with increased digestibility with minimum organic matter loss.
