Provided are heteroarylsulfonamide derivative compounds, of the general formula I, where the variables are as defined in the specification. Two examples of the compounds are N-(2-(4-(6-fluorobenzo[d]oxazol-2-yl)piperazine-1-carbonyl)phenyl)-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine-2-sulfonamide and N-(2-(4-(6-(trifluoromethoxy)benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)piperazine-1-carbonyl)-phenyl)quinoline-8-sulfonamide. Further provided are methods of preparing the compounds and pharmaceutical compositions comprising them. The compounds block Kv (voltage gated potassium) channels and may be useful in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders, particularly atrial fibrillation, chronic inflammation and cancer.
